About our 3 to 5 Year Old – Head Start Programs

KidZCommunity’s Head Start programs are recognized for offering services that enrich children’s development through self-discovery, extraordinary environments, and healthy, enjoyable experiences.

Each child receives an individualized educational plan that reflects on each child’s strengths and needs. Children are provided with the opportunity to participate in activities that support math, science, art, drama, language and culture. Children leave KidZCommunity Head Start prepared for kindergarten, excited about learning, confident in their own abilities and ready to succeed.

All our Head Start teachers are highly trained and have an Associate’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education or its equivalent. They also receive monthly training to ensure on-going professional development.

Once enrolled in one of our programs, our staff works with each family to provide an array of services.

These include the following:

  • support accessing medical and dental care
  • referrals for basic needs
  • nutrition assessments and counseling
  • wellness to help promote well-being for the entire family
  • transportation in limited areas
  • special education support and inclusion support

Our programs options are: Center Based and Family Child Care. Take a look at each one of them below.

5 DAYS A WEEK – TRADITIONAL SCHOOL YEAR – 6.5 HRS PER DAY

Our teacher to child ratios are 1 teacher to 6 children

Our programs promote healthy eating. Children are offered nutritious breakfasts, lunches, and afternoon snacks. Meals are served family style and nutrition elements are integrated into lesson plans to promote lifelong healthy eating habits. Each classroom receives fresh, seasonal produce from local farmers in Placer and Nevada Counties.

Regular child assessments, research-based curriculum, and individualized education plans create a path to Kindergarten school readiness.

KidZCommunity is committed to providing children an educational foundation for school readiness. Head Start preschool classrooms implement the research-based High Scope curriculum.

Active learning is the foundation of the High Scope Curriculum. Teachers spark children’s interest in learning by creating an environment that encourages them to explore fun and interesting learning materials. Children make decisions, build social and emotional skills and feel a part of the classroom community through interactions with the environments, teachers and peers.

5 DAYS A WEEK – FULL YEAR – UP TO 10 HRS/DAY

KidZCommunity partners with licensed family child care providers to offer full-day services for children 0-5 years old.

Each Family Child Care providers implements a research-based curriculum that offers developmentally appropriate care and learning.

Families also receive our complete holistic services which include family engagement opportunities and support, and health services support.

Each group size is limited to six for small Family Child Care Centers and twelve for larger Family Child Care Centers. The ratios are dependent on the ages of children, per California child care licensing.

Family Child Care Homes is an option for both Head Start and Early Head Start enrolled families. Homes are available throughout Placer County and in the Grass Valley/Nevada City area of Nevada County. Homes are available for a full working day, full calendar year, 5-days per week.

Each Family Child Care Home uses a research-based, validated curriculum approved by Head Start.
